Peacock Premium and Premium Plus are different viewing experiences, not simply two names for the same subscription. Premium is the lower-priced option with advertising. Premium Plus adds eligible offline downloads, the live local NBC channel and viewing with limited advertising exclusions. Choose by the features you will actually use, then verify the total and renewal terms in your account.
This US guide was checked against Peacock’s official pages on October 14, 2026. It covers regular subscription pricing and practical plan decisions. A student offer, included provider benefit, bundle or existing promotion can have different terms; the amount displayed for your own account takes priority over a general comparison.
Current US prices: use the dated price-change notice
Peacock’s official notice says new prices took effect August 18, 2026. Premium is $12.99 monthly or $129.99 annually; Premium Plus is $19.99 monthly or $199.99 annually. Select is separately listed at $8.99 monthly or $89.99 annually. Do not assume Select has the same content or features as Premium.
| Plan | Monthly list price | Annual list price |
|---|---|---|
| Premium | $12.99 | $129.99 |
| Premium Plus | $19.99 | $199.99 |
Some official promotional pages still contain older headline amounts even when their plan selector displays the new figure. Use the dated price-change notice and the final checkout instead of choosing whichever number is lowest. The notice also says existing annual or promotional pricing continues until the applicable term or offer ends, then renews at the new price.
Monthly versus annual: compare the same time horizon
At an unchanged $12.99 monthly price, twelve payments total $155.88. The $129.99 annual Premium list price is $25.89 lower over that hypothetical year. For Premium Plus, twelve $19.99 payments total $239.88, which is $39.89 above the $199.99 annual list price. These are calculations from the listed prices, not a promise of future savings.
An annual subscription collects an annual amount; it is not a monthly installment plan merely because you divide its cost by twelve. Consider whether you expect to watch throughout the year, whether you have an eligible discount and whether your desired content remains available. A short viewing period can make monthly billing more suitable even if its annualized cost is higher.
For a three-month viewing plan, the current monthly base totals are $38.97 for Premium and $59.97 for Premium Plus before any additional applicable charges. Compare those amounts with the annual commitment, rather than comparing one month with a full year. Save the amount due now and the next renewal date when you confirm.
What Premium Plus changes about advertising
Peacock qualifies its Premium Plus advertising description. Live programming, channels, sports and events can retain commercial breaks; some other programming also has exclusions. Its own local NBC page explicitly says the local channel still contains ads. An upgrade does not promise that every stream will become commercial-free.
Decide where interruptions matter to you. If you mostly watch live sports, paying more solely to eliminate every commercial would rest on an incorrect assumption. If you primarily watch eligible on-demand shows, the reduced-ad experience may be useful. Check the exact content and the plan description before upgrading.
When an ad appears after a plan change, identify the program type before treating it as a billing failure. A live channel with normal commercials is different from an account still showing the old plan. Compare the account’s subscription status, effective date and the official exclusions.
Offline downloads: a travel feature with limits
Peacock’s download guidance limits this feature to Premium Plus, eligible titles and supported mobile or tablet devices. It allows up to 25 downloaded pieces across the account at once. Unwatched downloads expire after 30 days or when the title leaves Peacock, whichever happens sooner; started downloads are removed after 48 hours.
Do not select Premium Plus for a flight and wait until the gate to discover whether your titles are downloadable. While connected, open the app, find the title and look for the download control. Complete the download and check its finished state before relying on it away from the connection.
The absence of a download icon can mean the title is ineligible, rather than a broken subscription. Available storage also matters. Choose the specific episodes or films you intend to watch and check that they fit the device. A download limit shared across an account requires coordination when several household members travel.
The live local NBC channel is a separate benefit
Peacock lists the 24/7 local NBC channel as a Premium Plus feature. It says the channel is assigned using the streaming device’s location and may change when that location changes. A rights issue can result in the national NBC feed instead of the local station.
This is different from finding an NBC show on demand. If your goal is local news or the station’s live schedule, inspect the Channels section after the upgrade. Confirm that the expected channel appears and plays; locating a network-branded show in search does not verify the live-channel benefit.
If the assigned station looks wrong, collect the device and displayed-channel information and use official customer care. Do not assume an upgrade buys access to any city’s station you choose. Avoid changing location settings simply to defeat a rights restriction.
Premium Plus does not mean unlimited simultaneous viewing
Peacock’s current guidance permits up to three concurrent streams per account. When another device exceeds that limit, one stream must stop. Its troubleshooting page says a crashed browser session can temporarily count as an active stream and advises waiting ten minutes in applicable cases.
A profile, an installed app and an active stream are different things. Count what is actually playing before troubleshooting a fourth screen. An upgrade should not be purchased on the assumption that it removes the documented account stream limit.
Peacock also describes the service as personal use within a household. Its household guidance refers to devices associated with the primary personal residence. Plan selection is not permission to share the membership freely outside those terms.
Check 4K by title and device, not only by tier
Peacock offers certain 4K UHD content to Premium and Premium Plus subscribers on some compatible supported devices. It instructs viewers to look for a 4K UHD badge in the title’s information. A 4K television alone does not establish that every app, title or attached device will play in 4K.
Before choosing a plan primarily for picture quality, inspect the exact device model and desired title. If the same eligible 4K feature is available on Premium, upgrading solely because Plus sounds more advanced may not solve your problem. Verify the complete viewing setup.
Check the billing provider before changing plans
The device used for viewing does not determine who bills the subscription. A direct Peacock account, app-store purchase and provider benefit can present different controls. Start with the subscription record and receipt, then follow the management route shown for that arrangement.
Our Peacock billing-provider guide explains that identification step. If your account does not offer a direct change control, do not open a second subscription just to obtain it. First determine which company manages the existing membership.
Peacock’s price-change instructions describe Subscriptions → Change Base Plan for eligible direct-billed billing-frequency changes. They warn that changing a promotional plan can lose the promotional price, and some changes take effect after the current billing cycle. Read the confirmation rather than assuming every change is immediate.
Three useful buying scenarios
Occasional live-event viewer: Check the event, date and access requirements. Compare a short monthly term with the annual charge. Premium Plus’s ad exclusions mean it should not be chosen solely to remove live-event commercials.
Regular on-demand viewer who travels: Premium Plus may be relevant if the actual titles are downloadable and your mobile device is supported. Check download eligibility, storage and expiry as part of the decision, not after leaving home.
Local NBC viewer: Confirm the Premium Plus local-channel feature and your assigned location. Verify the channel after subscribing. A catalog search for an NBC series is not equivalent to testing the local live station.
These scenarios are decision aids, not recommendations that everyone needs the more expensive plan. Write down the one or two features that justify the added $7 monthly list-price difference. If those features are unavailable in your actual setup, reassess before paying.
Discounts and included benefits need their own eligibility check
Do not compare a regular plan with a promotional offer without its duration, eligibility and renewal amount. Students can consult our Peacock student-discount guide; student verification and offer terms are separate from this regular-price comparison.
Walmart’s current streaming-benefit guidance offers eligible members a choice between Paramount+ Essential and Peacock Premium, with one benefit active at a time. It describes enrollment through the Benefits Hub and conditions for existing paid subscriptions. Check the provider’s current instructions before changing another membership to claim that benefit.
A provider benefit is not automatically Premium Plus. If an upgrade is offered, compare the incremental charge and who manages it. Save both the provider confirmation and the Peacock account status so a later billing question can be matched to the right record.
Verify the plan after purchase or change
- Open the account associated with the receipt.
- Confirm the plan name and billing provider.
- Record the price, billing interval and effective date.
- Test the particular feature you bought: eligible download, on-demand viewing or local NBC.
- Check that another unwanted subscription was not created.
- Retain the confirmation and next renewal date.
If you later stop renewal, access and renewal status need separate checks. Our watching Peacock after cancellation guide covers the paid-through period. Continued viewing does not by itself establish that another payment is scheduled.
Frequently asked questions
Is Premium Plus completely ad-free?
No. Peacock lists exclusions, including live channels, sports and events. Check the program type and current plan terms.
Does Premium include downloads?
The official download guidance describes Premium Plus eligibility, supported mobile/tablet devices and select titles.
Why is an older Peacock page showing $16.99?
Older page copy can coexist with a newer plan selector. Use the dated price-change notice and final checkout, not an isolated old headline.
Should I cancel before upgrading?
Identify the biller and read the available change path first. Avoid losing a promotion or creating a duplicate purchase unnecessarily.
