To watch Peacock TV, use the official Peacock app on a supported device, sign into the account that holds your subscription, and test playback before relying on it for a live event. Installing the app, entering a TV activation code and buying a plan are separate steps. A successful installation does not prove that the right account or viewing entitlement is connected.
This US first-use guide was checked on October 14, 2026. It focuses on selecting a compatible screen, completing sign-in and making the app usable for your household. For plan prices and feature differences, use our separate Peacock Premium versus Premium Plus comparison. Existing subscribers should establish what they already have before accepting a new purchase prompt.
Start with the device you will actually watch on
Write down the television model, operating system and any attached streaming player. The TV brand alone is insufficient: Peacock’s compatibility list distinguishes model years, operating-system versions and individual Roku models. A television with an HDMI player can run that player’s app even when its own app store has different options.
The current list includes supported Fire TV, Android TV, Apple TV, Google TV, Roku, Samsung, LG, Vizio, consoles and selected provider boxes. Examples have important qualifications: Samsung models are listed from 2017 onward; LG uses webOS 3.5 or newer; Apple TV HD fourth generation or newer requires tvOS 18 or newer. Check the full official list for your exact setup before purchasing hardware.
If the app is absent, establish which store you are searching. A Roku connected to a Samsung television has its own home screen and store. Searching the television’s store while the Roku is the intended playback device can lead you to the wrong compatibility conclusion. Select the appropriate input, then look on the device you intend to use.
Install the official app and distinguish sign-in from signup
- Open the home screen and search installed applications for Peacock.
- If it is missing, search the device’s app store and select the official Peacock app.
- Download the app and open it when installation finishes.
- Choose Sign In if you already have an account.
- Use the signup or plan-selection route only after confirming that you need a new subscription.
Peacock’s smart-TV instructions describe these stages, although menu labels differ across devices. If an existing membership seems invisible, stop at the account check. Buying again with a different email address can complicate the problem by creating a second subscription while the original one remains active.
Keep the email associated with the account and a recent receipt available on your phone. You do not need to publish either in a forum or send a photograph containing payment details. They are private evidence for matching the account to its billing arrangement.
Complete a TV code only when the app requests one
Some television sign-in flows show a device activation code. Follow the web address displayed by the official app and enter that fresh code on your phone or computer. Peacock’s device-code guidance explains that a missing internet connection, mistyped code or expired code can stop the process.
Read the browser address before entering account credentials. A search advertisement or similarly named site is not the same as the destination shown on your TV. Keep the television’s sign-in screen open while completing the requested steps, then check whether the television advances into the signed-in app.
If the code is rejected, return to the app and obtain its current code rather than repeatedly using an old photograph. Match each character carefully. If two televisions are being set up, complete one first so the browser code is not accidentally paired with the other screen.
A code links a device through the displayed sign-in workflow; it is not a coupon and does not itself establish that you bought the required plan. After activation, inspect the account and test the content you want. This separates a successful connection from a subscription or catalog question.
Recover the correct account before changing payment details
When you cannot remember the login email, Peacock recommends checking an already signed-in app and searching email folders for its messages. Account updates and receipts can help identify the address you used. Check junk folders as well as the inbox, especially if you maintain several personal addresses.
For a forgotten password, use the official sign-in screen’s reset route and the registered email address. Peacock says a reset link expires after three hours and is usable once. Request a fresh link when an old one no longer works; avoid treating a stale reset message as evidence that the subscription disappeared.
A streaming-device account and a Peacock account can be different. Your television being signed into its manufacturer’s account does not confirm the email used inside Peacock. Verify the account displayed by Peacock itself, then match it to the membership you intended to use.
Our Peacock billing-provider guide helps distinguish direct billing from a managed purchase. The screen used for watching is not automatically the company that collects payment. Follow the arrangement identified in the account and receipt rather than guessing from the remote control brand.
Make the first playback test deliberate
Choose the actual film, episode or event you plan to watch. Inspect its details, then play it long enough to check picture, sound and the controls you need. A working home screen only verifies browsing; a trailer may not test the same access as the full program.
If your goal is a live event, verify the date and specific event listing. An on-demand episode playing successfully does not guarantee access to every future event. Likewise, finding an NBC series is not proof that the local live NBC channel is included in your plan.
Use a second supported device as a comparison when appropriate. If the same account plays the same title on a phone but fails on the TV, investigate that television or player before changing the subscription. If the title is unavailable on both, examine entitlement, location and the listing rather than immediately replacing the TV.
Set captions and audio description during the test
On connected TVs, Peacock’s caption instructions start by pausing playback to reveal the navigation bar, then selecting the Audio & Subtitles speech-bubble control. Choose the subtitle option and allow up to 30 seconds for it to appear. On mobile devices, tap the playing video to reveal its controls.
Caption appearance can also depend on device accessibility settings. Peacock points iOS and tvOS users to Accessibility → Subtitles & Captioning, and Android users toward the hearing/audio caption settings. Test legibility from your normal seating position instead of assuming the default size will work for everyone.
Audio description is a separate audio track that describes visual action. Look for the Audio Description indicator on an eligible title, then choose English (AD) in Audio & Subtitles when offered. Peacock lists exceptions for some older provider boxes, so an absent option should be checked against both the title and device guidance.
If someone needs both captions and described audio, verify each independently. A visible subtitle track does not show that audio description is enabled. Include these checks before a shared viewing session so troubleshooting does not interrupt the program.
Prepare profiles for children and adults
Peacock offers Kids profiles with content restricted to the Kids section and ratings PG or below, including its Little Kids, Older Kids and Family rating groups. The original account-holder profile cannot be a Kids profile. Choose the appropriate profile before browsing with a child.
Its profile PIN instructions describe a four-digit PIN used when accessing a protected profile from another profile. In a computer or mobile browser, open the profiles page, choose the pencil for the relevant profile, enable the PIN setting, enter the account password and save the new PIN.
Peacock says these PIN settings cannot be changed directly on a television; the TV may display a QR code to continue on mobile. After saving, test switching into the protected profile. A saved setting and a successful protection check are different stages, particularly when several adults share the television.
Do not confuse this PIN with your account password or a temporary TV activation code. Record which credential is being requested before resetting anything. Review the selected child’s profile and available ratings with your own household’s preferences in mind.
Save programs and verify the viewing quality
Peacock’s watchlist is called My Stuff. Open a movie, show or eligible live-event details page and use Add to Watchlist. The item should then appear in My Stuff, sometimes presented as a row within Featured. Check that it was added before relying on memory to find it later.
A watchlist entry is a bookmark, not an offline download or a guarantee that a title remains available indefinitely. When planning a session, reopen the entry and confirm the current playback option. This is especially useful when the item is a live event rather than an ordinary catalog episode.
For 4K, Peacock identifies certain eligible titles with a 4K UHD badge and limits playback to compatible supported devices and plans. Check the badge and the exact device model. A television’s 4K panel does not establish the format of every program or attached player’s output.
Troubleshoot according to what failed
- App absent: Recheck the exact device and store against the supported-device list.
- Code rejected: Check the current code and connection using the official activation instructions.
- Account unrecognized: Identify the registered email and use password recovery.
- Purchase prompt despite payment: Match the signed-in account to the receipt and billing provider.
- Video fails after successful sign-in: Investigate playback and the device connection.
For technical playback failures, Peacock recommends closing the app and other background applications, restarting the device with a 20-second power-down interval, checking the connection, clearing available cache/data and reinstalling when necessary. Treat these as a sequence and retest after each meaningful change.
Before clearing data or reinstalling, confirm you can sign back in. If the account reaches its simultaneous-stream limit, stop an active stream; an apparent crashed session can need time to clear. Reinstallation is not a substitute for resolving an account-wide stream limit.
Finish with an account and renewal check
Confirm the correct profile, usable playback, necessary accessibility settings and the membership’s renewal state. If you previously stopped renewal, our Peacock access after cancellation guide explains why remaining paid access and a future payment are separate questions.
If support is needed, collect the device model, app version, exact error, title and steps already tried. Describe whether other devices work. This is more actionable than reporting only that Peacock TV does not work.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to buy another subscription for a second TV?
Start by signing into the existing eligible account. Check the documented household and stream limits before purchasing again.
Does installing Peacock charge me automatically?
Installation and accepting a subscription purchase are separate actions. Read any plan confirmation and payment terms presented during setup.
Why can I browse but not watch my chosen program?
Browsing does not verify playback entitlement. Check the specific title, signed-in account, plan and device using the branches above.
